Best friends are more like siblings, so when you’re forced to be apart from them it’s extra tough. These young boys learned that the hard way, after the pandemic, and a cross-country move forced them to be apart for months. Lucky for them, their mothers put together a surprise reunion for the kids that warmed hearts across the nation.

Carson and Cade, are seven-year-old best friends who spent 6-months apart until they had a touching reunion that went viral
The pandemic has forced many friends to keep their distance from one another, and it hasn’t been easy, especially for kids. So when you add in moving to a different state like this young boy, it makes it almost impossible for them to see each other in person.

After Carson’s family moved to South Carolina, the boys knew it would be hard for them to see each other but their moms’ had a surprise in store. When Carson’s mom, Sarah Bates, found out Cade was visiting Taylors, South Carolina, she thought it would be the perfect opportunity to reunite them.
Sarah got in contact with Cade’s mom, Shelley Kirk, and together they secretly planned a reunion
Both mothers knew if they told their sons, the anticipation would eat at them so they kept the plans secret until it was time for the surprise.
When they got to the house, Cade could sense something was going on and slowly approaches the front door with his little sister.
That’s when Carson bursts out the front door, running as fast as he can to embrace his best friend
The tears start flowing, and the two friends can’t hide their excitement as they see each other for the first time in over 6-months. You can hear their moms choking up off-camera, as even they can’t hide their emotions.
As parents, you also build relationships with the parents of the children your kids hang out with, so we’re sure they are also extremely delighted to be together again. After a nice big hug, the long lost friends turn to talk to each other and Cade exclaims:
“I thought I would see you up here.”

Once they’re through getting the initial shock of finally seeing each other in person, it’s all smiles from the reunited best friends. If this would have happened to me, I probably would have been bawling tears of joy just like these adorable 7-year-olds.
At the end of the video, the parents announce that it’s actually Cade’s father’s birthday as well. You know what that means, it’s party time for these two reunited families. People on the internet were touched by this endearing reunion, which is probably why the video went viral.
