We always wish to have a peaceful neighborhood where we are assured of our safety and security. It would be great to have a friendly community where you and your kids could freely go out and play with their friends.

What could be a good day to go out and play may end up in a tragedy that would bring real trauma to your kids. Thankfully, the good guys came in to save the day in this story.

Good-day-to-bike turned bad

It seemed like a typical day in Louisville, Kentucky, when this six-year-old girl went out biking. She seemed to enjoy her day out when her joy suddenly turned to horror.

A man came out of the car, grabbed her, and threw her in the passenger’s seat. The man went off, while the girl screamed for help.

A concerned neighbor

Luckily for that six-year-old, a concerned neighbor saw what happened and acted quickly. Prentiss Weatherford was on his front porch during the incident. He saw everything that happened and recalled the incident with WAVE.

He told the radio station that the red Dodge Challenger came out of the car and grabbed the girl by the collar. Then, he threw her bike aside and threw the girl in the passenger’s seat. He made a run down the road swiftly after.

Prentiss and his father quickly got in the car and followed the kidnapper. They called the police and told them that the kidnapper was driving a red Dodge Challenger and noted the last three digits of the license plate.

The minutes that felt like hours

The Louisville Metro Police responded quickly and cornered the kidnapper, whom they later identified as Robby L. Wildt. The police’s body-cam captured the action in all those minutes that felt like hours for them. Sergeant Joe Keeling told him to drop to the ground, and he didn’t even budge.

Officer Jason Borba headed to the car’s passenger seat and saw the little girl crying. He extended his hand and comforted the little girl who willingly clung to his arms.

A haunting cry

But what caught the hearts of many was that haunting cry the little girl did when she was finally in the hands of the cops. She screamed, “I want my daddy!” The officers assured her that she was safe.

This also crushed their hearts because they were fathers, too. They couldn’t imagine if it were their kids in that situation.

The kidnapper’s case

According to the arrest citation, Robby Wildt said he tried to console the little girl when she started crying in the car. That’s when it dawned upon him the weight of his actions. When he recognized what he did was wrong, he returned to where he got the girl.

He pleaded ‘not guilty’ during his arraignment hearing and has a bond set at $1 Million. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 12. According to Kentucky’s law, a kidnapping case is punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison.
