Wedding speeches never fail to make someone cry.
But in this instance, a couple had their hearts melted when it came from someone they didn’t expect. While maids of honor and best men have their fair share of sincere, comical, and heartfelt speeches, this one definitely takes the cake.
At that moment, couple Catie Bower and Troy Hudson, together with their friends and family, were touched by a special moment, not knowing that millions will witness the event.
Bower and Hudson from Colorado got married last August 2021.
Their special day, just like other weddings, was filled with cherished moments and people. It was a day that one thought was perfect, not knowing it will get even more memorable.
As the festivities continued, the couple listened to speeches from friends and family. This one, however, definitely left a mark.
Standing in front of them was Gus Bower.
Gus is Bower’s then 9-year-old brother. He stood in front of the guest holding the microphone in one hand and a prepared speech in the other.
We were so used to grown-ups giving wedding speeches so it hits different when a younger one, not even a teenager, gave his blessing to the newly-wed couple.
But how did Gus get on the stage in the first place?
Gus and Catie are two peas in a pod even with more than a decade between them. They are also half-siblings but they never let that get in the way of their relationship.
Catie cherished Gus and even posted photos of him on her social media accounts. On his third birthday, she even called Gus as the “sweetest, smartest, and cutest” kid she knew.
It wasn’t only Catie who was close with Gus, however.
Catie knew Troy from way before. The couple has known each other since they were young, even preceding Gus’s birth.
They remained friends over the years but decided to commit to a relationship when they both studied at the University of Denver.
The couple grew up together with Gus.
So one cannot fault the little kid when he became emotional during the reception. Gus got used to having both of them so when they tied the knot, he got scared that they wouldn’t spend much time with him like before.

“I was worried that she wouldn’t spend as much time with me as she used to,” he said. “So it was really stressful in that way because I didn’t want to lose her.” He said to CBS.

But in the end, he understood that this new chapter in their lives was a blessing and that he was still very much part of Catie’s family.
The heartwarming moment was caught on camera.
“I know I might seem a little sad up here but these are tears of joy,” the nine-year-old said as tears rolled down his cheeks. “Catie, I love you so much and I am so happy that you gave me a brother-in-law.”
Upon seeing his brother cry, Catie immediately walks up to him and gives him a long tight hug, reassuring Gus that she will always be there for him.
They are siblings after all, and even as they both grow up, as siblings they will forever remain.
